  Weight Gain Is Easy!

Guys will always tell me that weight fluctuations in men are common. However, for seven continuous weeks I have weighed in between 181 and 182, once dropping to 180 and once to 183 during that nearly two month span. Anyway, I was 181 and ten days ago the scale suddenly (after a two day absence from the scales) read 186.

A fluke, right? Nope, the next day it was 187. The next? 188. Two days ago I was 191. Yes, I am telling you that I gained 10 solid pounds in 10 days.

Do I feel fatter? Yes. Are my clothes tighter than they were 10 days ago? Yes, actually they are very snug. Does my stomach look flabbier? It certainly does. I was actually in the process of trying to lose three more pounds. Three weeks ago I was able to run for a half hour at 6.5 miles per hour. I tried that out a couple of days ago and I only made it for 8 minutes (and the fear of death by exhaustion entered my thoughts).

This has to be some sort of a record. Can somebody actually get that out of shape in a 10 day period...all while they have been working out 8 of those 10 days? I'm not any stronger and my muscles are not bigger.

Note: I have been eating double and triple portions and I have been having ice cream AND chips and dip before bed almost every day for two weeks now.

Comments:
Oh man! It's Turkey Day tomorrow?! I'm done for.

Sammon, you've just figured it out. It's my milkshake that is bringing all of the boys to the yard.

that's why i feed him snicker's bars in his sleep.

wait til the hair starts growing on your boombox son...you'll be lucky if you get to sleep in the same bed with your wife more than once a week.

wait, you openly admit that you're bringing all the boys to the yard? and they're like "it's better than yours..."

it's a swinging time for all when the boys and the girls come to the yard

Jason, Can you teach me?

I haven't worked out for 3 weeks now, I am afraid to go on that scale=) A fresh start is order on Monday!

Jason - I hate when this happens - it has actually happened to me before - and I wasn't even eating that much :(

I got so mad at the scale I threw it out - but then I pulled it back out of the garbage...(wasn't the scale's fault - but I still am not sure how it happened)

I hate being enslaved to the scale - I never use to be - but then I never use to be this heavy either!

At this point, my thinking is, enjoy the Holidays - WORKOUT some everyday - and then diet & exercise in Jan!!!!!

Jason, you mentioned chips and such? If you don't regularly eat chips (extremely high in sodium) it may be a combination of water wait and excellerated gain. If you ask anyone who works out consistently, they will tell you that there are periods of time when wait fluctuation is extreme. When I used to work out (5 years ago, high school) I could fluctuate 8-15 pounds per practice, so every day.

ha - grammatical error:

....anyone....he/she...

Jason, I am enjoying all of the pictures in your recent posts. They are so macho! Weeeeeewwww!

Don't forget, J, you can always dance away those pounds to fun songs from the 60's like "In His Kiss", "Cool Jerk", and 80's tunes like "Freeway of Love." Then you can say "fairwell fat, and don't come back!"

Whoa! Richard S. just used "dance", "fun", and "songs from the 60s" all in one sentence. I'm thinking we are from different eras.

Hi Jason,
Wow a guy who actually weighs himself! My husband hardly ever weighs himself. Only time he does is at the Doctor or when he is really working out hard in the Gym.

I weigh myself... hmmm. maybe 3 times a day. Its not healthy though. I'm very weight contious... its not a good habit to have though.
I mean yes it keeps me thin... but it does a working on your mind.

You can gain 10 pounds in no time though.

A few weeks ago I was sick with a stomach flu. I threw up probably 17 times. From 11 pm- 7 am.
Worst than child birth. No serious... for me it was haha.

Any how. I weighed myself the day before I got sick. I was 110 pounds.

In less than 2 days... after I was able to walk and recovered from the flu I was 105 pounds.
I lost 5 pounds in less than 2 days!

If I dont watch what I eat though I can be back to 115 in no time.
Since I was sick I've gained 2 pounds. So I'm 107 give or take an ounce :-)

Oh but these holidays are brutal! I cant help but eat a lot at Grandmothers on Christmas.... its so good....

If your only 190 your fine :-) unless your like 5 foot 2 like me haha.
My husband is almost 6 foot and he weighs 190.
When we got married he was 180.

Alright got to go to church take care,

I weigh myself EVERY morning without fail and probably 3 to 4 evenings before bed each week. I guess I'm obsessive?

I hate the BMI scale. I personally know I need to lose between 5 and 15 pounds. I'm 5'11" and weigh 182 pounds on average. My BMI is 25, right at the top of the healthy range. I'm very close to being overweight. I don't know... maybe it's accurate. But whenever I say I need to lose a little weight people tell me I'm already too thin.

I shouldn't let the BMI bother me. It means nothing, nothing at all. Doesn't muscle weigh like twice as much as fat?

wow. thats a lot of comments about weight.

wow. That's a really shocking change so quickly.

Do you use a fat-o-meter thing (I have no idea what they are really called) but I find it helpful to use it to see if I have lost muscle or fat (or put on muscle or fat). I know it sounds super nerdy, but they're really great in letting me know how much lean muscle mass and fat I'm working with. (Nerdy I know...but hey...I'm desperate to get my old body back after pregnancy).
